Bush Asserts Sluggish Economy Is on Road to Recovery

President Bush asserted today that the sluggish American economy was on the road to recovery, and he said there was no need to push for a new round of tax cuts as he heads into his re-election campaign this fall.

“We are discussing a lot of things, and we believe that the tax relief plan we have in place is robust enough to encourage job growth,” Mr. Bush told reporters at his 1,600-acre Texas ranch as he stood flanked by his top economic advisers.
