ALLAHASSEE - The 2003 session of the Florida Legislature collapsed Tuesday, as lawmakers quit work on their $53 billion budget and threatened to leave most other major issues unresolved.
The blowup came when Senate President Jim King, R-Jacksonville, announced shortly after 5 p.m. that the Senate was halting its contentious budget negotiations with the House, saying the two chambers were hopelessly deadlocked.
